Megumi is a young girl who lives near Ryo in Yamanose, her older sister, Mayumi, was also a classmate of Ryo's so that is how they know each other. Because of her friendly nature, she is quite well known in the area, even amongst the older children and is also friends with Nozomi. She can often be found at the Yamanose Shrine looking after an orphaned kitten whom she wishes she could adopt, but is told by her mother than she can't keep pets at home. She, and the other local children, as well as Ryo and Nozomi, all care for the kitten who, as well as being orphaned, was injured by a speeding black car. When Megumi grows up she says she wants to get married to Ryo.

Orphaned Kitten

This is a young kitten who was orphaned on the day of Iwao's death, her mother was run over as the black car sped away from the Hazuki Residence. The kitten has since been living in a box at the Yamanose shrine and been looked after by the neighbourhood children, in particular Megumi, Nozomi and Ryo (if he chooses). After a few days Megumi asks Ryo what they should name the kitten, and you are given the options of either Mimi, Sasuke, Chibi or Tama, some of these names Megumi doesn't like however.
