In the Xbox version of Shenmue II one of the extras to be added was the addition of a camera, where Ryo can take photos of things on his journey. When photos of specific characters are taken, it unlocks a hidden comic featuring scenes and characters not seen in Shenmue II. The comics, and how to unlock them, are listed below. There is also secret artwork to unlock.

To view the comics, once you have the required photos, go to the Shots-Viewer in the main menu and press X three times, this will take you to the screen with the photos and a present icon. Clicking the present will open the comic.

Vol. 1 - Guizhang & Joy

Photos needed:

• Joy - found in Aberdeen, Wan Chai and Kowloon
• Wong - found in Aberdeen and Kowloon
• Sam - usually seen with Larry and Cool Z, found in Aberdeen
• Larry - usually seen with Sam and Cool Z, found in Aberdeen
• Cool Z - found in Aberdeen and Kowloon
• Ailian He - found at the Fortunetellers by the Free Stay Lodge, Aberdeen, Hermit Fortunetellers, Green Market Qtr, Wan Chai or Blackness Fortunetellers, Dancing Dragon Building, Stand Qtr, Kowloon
• Haohai Du - one of the Poison Brothers, usually seen around Ling Ling Porridge, Queen's Street, Aberdeen
• Bangzhuo Du - one of the Poison Brothers, usually seen around Ling Ling Porridge, Queen's Street, Aberdeen

Vol .2 - Ren & Wong

Photos needed:

• Xiuying Hong - most easily seen at Man Mo Temple, Scarlet Hills, or Xiuying's Room at the Da Yuan Apartments, Wise Man's Qtr, Wan Chai. But also seen in Kowloon.
• Jianmin Tao - found at Lotus Park, South Carmain Qtr, Wan Chai
• Zhoushan Xuan - found at Guang Martial Arts School, Green Market Qtr, Wan Chai
• Zhangyu Kong - found at Zhangyu Barber's Shop, Lucky Charm Qtr, Wan Chai
• Guixiang Lee - found at the Yan Tin Apartments, South Carmain Qtr, Wan Chai
• Ren Dan - the owner of the Come Over Guest House, Green Market Qtr, Wan Chai
• Zongquan Bai - found at the Golden Shopping Mall, Golden Qtr, Wan Chai
• Meiming Yu - a girl working at the Hu Foi Diner, Worker's Pier, Aberdeen

Vol. 3 - Xiuying & Ziming

Photos needed:

• Fangmei Xun - most commonly seen at Man Mo Temple, Scarlet Hills or in Xiuying's Room at the Da Yuan Apartments, Wise Man's Qtr, Wan Chai
• Jiliang Chang - one of the two attendants at Man Mo Temple, Scarlet Hills, Wan Chai
• Shiquan Fu - one of the two attendants at Man Mo Temple, Scarlet Hills, Wan Chai
• Hanhui Liu - at Man Mo Temple, Scarlet Hills, Wan Chai
• Anan Liu - staring at the crooked sign outside the Paradise Tea Manor, Green Market Qtr, Wan Chai mostly
• Delin Hong - your work partner at Fortune's Pier, Aberdeen

• Izumi Takano - working at Tomato Convenience Store, Golden Qtr, Wan Chai
• Gongjue Zhou - he's the avid Toy Capsules collector and hard to pin down, wherever there are Toy Capsule machines around Wan Chai
• Yang - working at Great View Herbs, Great View Building, Thousand White Qtr, Kowloon
• Kai - easiest to find playing the chinese violin on Dragon Street, Kowloon
• Shuqin Zhang - Yuanda Zhu's informat, found in Wan Chai and Kowloon
• Haoyi Ping - working at the Lucky Hit Museum, Dimsum Qtr, Kowloon
• Guangyan Wang - Guangji Wang's brother, found on the top floor of the Yan Tin Apartments, South Carmain Qtr, Wan Chai
